This summer, Vincent is conducting TB research in the laboratory of Dr. Sarah Fortune at the Immunology and Infectious Diseases Department at the Harvard T.H.Chan School of Public Health. His research focuses on the genetics of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacteria that causes TB. He is contributing to research that investigates the role that small RNAs play in TB virulence and stress response, an area of research that has gone largely unexplored. Working in M. smegmatis, a non-pathogenic Mycobacterium species, he is investigating the newly-discovered MyhB sRNA through characterization of its interaction with potential targets and accessory factors.
