This summer, Leni is interning with the Mental Health Division of the Public Defender Service for DC. Leni assists attorneys and supports their investigations of cases for indigent clients facing involuntary civil and/or criminal commitment. As an investigative intern, her responsibilities include contacting treating psychiatrists, family, witnesses and law enforcement officials; reviewing and summarizing medical and legal records; meeting with clients; documenting work in the agency’s computer tracking system and attending court proceedings.
