This summer, Jessica is interning in Uganda with the Massachusetts General Hospital-Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) collaboration, which joins bio-medical research, academic medicine, and community health initiatives to improve the delivery of rural health care in resource-limited settings. For the first half of the summer, she is developing and implementing a community health improvement project from the Bugoye Health Center, a rural public clinic along the Uganda-DRC border. Her project focuses on raising awareness about the impact of teenage pregnancy on your health and life in Bugoye. She is spending the second half of the summer at the Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital working on various small projects like creating a nutrition guide for pediatric oncology patients.
