This summer, I am so excited to be working at Hollywood, Health, & Society as well as the Norman Lear Center to study health communication through entertainment narratives. I've been assisting with research on pre-COVID survey data on how different groups of people consume news and entertainment. Later, with more recent surveys, I will help with analysis on how news and entertainment narratives challenge perceptions of poverty. I've also been helping to develop a Voting-by-Mail Tip Sheet for screenwriters interested in incorporating election storylines, as well as listening to panels on various social and medical topics for Writers Guild America East and West. In the second half of the summer, I look forward to helping screen entries for the Sentinel Award ceremony honoring TV shows with accurate and compelling storylines that promote positive health behaviors. I'm so grateful for this opportunity to learn about creative health communication!
