This summer, I am interning at the Duraisingh Lab located at the T. Chan School of Public Health. The project I am currently working on involves analyzing genomic data from Babesia bigemina, a parasite that can transmit a disease known as babesiosis via ticks. While babesiosis largely affects cattle, it can also be transmitted to humans. Through shell scripting, I have worked to align B. bigemina sequencing data in the hopes of identifying key mutations that have resulted from its growth in the laboratory setting.
