This summer I'm excited to be working in the Rubin Lab at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Some of my experiments involve testing the effectiveness of the enzyme trehalose dimycolate hydrolase (TDMH) on killing and inhibiting the growth of mycobacteria colonies through the use of genetically modified E.coli. I've also been comparing two different types of lysozymes and their ability to lyse mycobacteria. TB remains the world's most deadly infectious disease, and I'm grateful to have the opportunity to work in a lab dedicated to learning about the bacteria in hopes to develop new treatments.
