This summer, I am working at the Middle Ear Lab of Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, investigating the advancement of commercial tympanostomy tubes for otitis media (ear infections). The mission of this lab is to design affordable, easy-to-insert tubes while tackling the numerous challenges leading up to previous designs and their failures (clogging in the middle ear, difficulty with tube placement, high production costs, etc). To contribute to that mission, I am mastering 3D printing using the ROKIT INVIVO as well as analyzing funding and investment opportunities to support the company combining both elements of engineering and commercial strategies to solve the treatment of otitis media on a global scale.
