I am conducting malaria research with the Duraisingh Lab at the Harvard Chan School of Public Health. One of the goals in the Duraisingh lab is to identify host determinant factors for Plasmodium infection using erythroid progenitor cells. My work deals primarily with optimizing the culturing conditions of erythroid cell lines to obtain mature enucleated red blood cells. By improving the enucleation rate of these cell lines, my work will provide more homogenous and readily available cells for Plasmodium-related experiments in the lab.
