I am spending the summer (or more accurately, winter) in Australia at the Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research (QCMHR) in their policy and epidemiology stream. My main project involves using longitudinal survey data to examine the outcomes of a program through Australia's universal healthcare system that provides coverage for psychological services provided by psychologists and other allied mental healthcare practitioners. I've also been involved in a project about state-level policies for mental health and substance use disorders. It's been fascinating to learn about mental health policy in Australia, and I'm grateful to QCMHR for hosting me and to HGHI for supporting this pursuit.
