This summer, I worked with the Touch Foundation in Mwanza, Tanzania, an NGO that plans and implements healthcare systems strengthening projects in Tanzania with a unique public-private approach to problems and a heavy emphasis on data and sustainability. A small team on the ground has meant plenty of exposure for me, giving me the chance to try just about every facet of global health work. My projects have involved close work with local doctors and engineers, government organizations, NGOs, and private consulting groups; they've ranged from advising the government on the allocation of healthcare professionals, to delivery of effective maternal health solutions, to planning northern Tanzania's first cardiac care unit. Salaam!
