I've had a wonderful experience interning at Partners in Health, a medical organization based in more than ten countries that provides health care and strengthens health systems in communities facing extreme poverty. Working with the Clinical Operations Team at PIH, I focus primarily on supporting a project called the Nightingale Fellowship – a year-long leadership and executive management course for directors of nursing at PIH sites in Haiti, Rwanda, Liberia, and Rosebud Reservation, South Dakota. I am currently helping to develop an online leadership curriculum to be offered as part of the Fellowship, with the goal of empowering nurse leaders to have a stronger voice in the executive decisions that affect their hospitals and the PIH organization as a whole.
