I am excited to be working in the Rubin Lab to help better understand the bacterium that causes Tuberculosis (TB). The lab links my love of biochemistry with my desire to help underserved and under-resourced populations. I am researching the role of FtsH, a membrane-bound protease, in Mycobacterium tuberculosis. To identify FtsH substrates, I will use proteomics and a protease "trap" to capture interacting partners of this protein. Also, I will measure FtsH expression levels in response to different stressors. This will help us understand the role of FtsH in the stress response of mycobacteria.
